Tim Brown

Tim Brown is a Senior Fellow at specializing in commercial satellite imagery, and is responsible for imagery analysis and interpretation. Tim produces the image of the week, which focuses on high visability current events using high-resolution aerial and satellite imagery. Tim has located nuclear, biological, chemical and missile facilities, in Russia, China, North Korea, India, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Israel, as well as general military facilities in other countries.

Tim is a Senior Associate at Pike Consultants, LLC. He has appeared on ABC World News, Nightline, CNN, FOX News, the BBC, National Public Radio, the History Channel, the Learning Channel, and the Discovery Channel and has been frequently quoted in magazines and newspapers, on defense and intelligence matters.

Prior to joining, Brown was a Security Analyst working on the Public Eye project at the Federation of American Scientists. While with FAS, Tim worked for three years exploiting declassified CORONA satellite imagery of the Soviet Union, China and North Korea, as well as the newly available IKONOS 1-meter imagery from Space Imaging Corp.

Before coming to FAS he was the Warren Brooks fellow at the Cato Institute studying environmental issues. Brown graduated from the American University in 1990 with a degree in International Service and concentrations in national security, foreign policy and intelligence. He has written extensively on the use and limits of commercial imaging satellites for arms control and regional security.
